There really is not to much that is safe about the ocean. God himself seems to be the only tamer of the mighty waves saying how far they can and can’t go. The disciples who worked on the water were amazed that the winds and waves obeyed him, even after he had raised the dead, cleansed and healed the sick. So, why do I bring this up?
Well, years ago, about 5 to be exact, I have felt like this little boy out in the middle of the great ocean on his boogie board waiting. This is terrifying! Imagine for a second being placed in the middle of the Atlantic with no boats, no sign of land, no cup holders or cooler, no umbrella. Just you and your boogie board with hundreds to thousands of miles to get to a shore, tens of thousands of depth beneath your dangling legs, and the sun scorching down on your back. Yep, death for sure is coming in that scenario. However 5 years ago I had the sense that I was awaiting something amazing. That something is Someone, And Is a movement like none before.
I have been waiting for this God tidal wave to carry me to shore, representing a movement of God. Call it a revival, a resurgence, a renewal, another great awakening, a resurrection of hearts…etc. Call it what you will, but an awe striking movement of God where the young and old began laying down their lives for the sake of the Gospel, for their saviorA movement that longs more to see our Savior face to face as it does the cultures next best things. I have never been able to see if I am getting closer to the shore, but I can feel the swells beneath my boogie board. I get a sense of God moving in our city (our ocean), I get a sense I am not the only boogie boarder in the ocean, nor am I the only one who is awaiting this great wave. And who knows maybe its the endless wave that captures us to that Great Shore of Redemptions Home. A wave that carries us to the final moment when the saints are as the number of the grains on the sandy shore or the stars in the the heavens, and on that day we will know just how many that really is as we anthem, Hallelujah our God reigns through the new heavens and earth. Would you join me in praying that God would do something great in this city this semester, something great in the lives of our community, and that we would trust Him at His word. Would you be willing to venture out to where God is leading you this week. Jeremy Cook You call me out upon the waters The great unknown where feet may fail And there I find You in the mystery In oceans deep My faith will stand.
